March 31, April 28 Duet for Cannibals:Films, videos & talks at the Theatre of the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam. Duet for Cannibals* is a series of four screening and discussion program by guest artists and guest speakers on colonialism and cannibalism as forms of cultural appropriation. It brings together a selection of works by contemporary artists and filmmakers as well as footage from the Tropical Museums archive. Curated by Inti Guerrero, guest curator at
Agentur residency program in Amsterdam.
Feb 12 - March 12 Exhibition of the
Vrije Ruimten Zuidas A.I.R. 2010 This residency program (only by invitation) is a project and think tank in the former St Nicolaas monestery for artists to research and question the developments and ambitions of the Zuidas. The residency explicitly establishes a relation between art, city developments and the public domain.
March 13 - April 3 Six artists from Kenya will reside and work at
National Museum for Glas in Leerdam. They will work together with Dutch designers as Maarten Baas, Jurgen Beij, Piet Hein Eek, Bernard Heesen, Richard Hutten, Maria Roosen and Berend Strik. The results of the collaboration will be presented in June in the Netherlands and in Nairobi.
March 22 - 28 Blinded Tourist is a residency project by artist Marielle Videler at
W139 in Amsterdam. Four international artists reside in the artspace of W139 to undergo the experience of artist-in-residence in Amsterdam, guided by Marielle Videler and exposed as such to the public.
