At the gardens of Fougères...

From April 18th to October 18th 2006, these artists are hosted in Fougères under the programme 'Artists in Context', proposed by the Pépinières Européennes pour Jeunes Artistes, whose mission is to promote the mobility of the artists in the international context. Arcade invites the artists in residency to build a relevant creative project linked to the social and economical context.
The aim is to collaborate with the local population, to invest insolites and unusual places in the city and to reach people with contemporary art. For three years, Arcade has been a hosting structure for artistic residencies.
Audrey and Daniela will explore the richful and luxuriant universe of the gardens and the myths through multiple works : drawings, installations and projections. Daniela Krajcova will try to translate her experiment of integration in Fougères through mobile installations that will be exhibited in the city. "Our reactions to this new environment are the starting point of this exhibition. Far away from the barrier of the language, that is my duty to adapt myself to these different kind of ways of life. This urgent need of adaptation, I wish I could transpose it in my personal work, by proposing my own vision of the city of Fougères and of its inhabitants".
Audrey Bakx will devote this exhibition to make people sensitive to the bridges between the universe of gardens and tales and legends of Brittany, by opening physical and imaginary spaces.
"I find my inspiration in the observation of the daily life, of the gardens and landscapes of Fougères and its surroundings, in order to recreate an imaginary world. My process is to mix elements from the real to fictitious concepts, so that the public could not distinguish the borders between both levels. Moreover, during this period, Audrey and Daniela will invite the inhabitants to different "strong times" different meetings which will enable them to exchange around their artistic creations".
